Daniel Nilsson

Director

Daniel has been active in disaster mitigation since 2002, when he began his PhD at Lund University in Sweden. His doctoral research focused on fire evacuation in buildings, and he has since expanded his work to include wildfire, earthquake and tsunami hazards, and flooding. Since 2018, Daniel has been a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. As co-founder of Sense i Solutions in 2019, he brings extensive expertise in risk management and disaster mitigation.

Roger Nokes

Director

Roger holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics and Mathematics, and a PhD in Civil Engineering. He has spent his career in academia, teaching mathematics, fluid mechanics and software development at the University of Auckland, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and the University Canterbury. His research in experimental fluid mechanics led to the development of experimental measurement systems that have ultimately formed the basis for the technology underlying the SenseiQ, and his extensive software development skills have enabled our vision of the sensor to be realised.
